One of Pinch of Colour’s USPs is that they’re entirely waterless in composition and will always be so. Their next commitment to waterless is to ensure that a portion of profits from sales go specifically to water-related charities and projects. I’m almost more interested to see what comes next from Pinch than I am in the current line-up. It IS lovely and I’ve already found a favourite, but it’s not a big stretch to make waterless lipsticks as their usual composition is with oils and butters. I guess its the commitment from a beauty brand not to make products that require water that’s more important and how they work around that with NPD. Interesting times!
My instant love is the Healthy Lips Waterless Lip Oils, £18 – particularly Cream Dream above in a shade of translucent caramel. This is a comfort layer for lips – it’s glidey, smoothing, soft on the lips, hydrating and light. A blend of rosa canina, apricot and avocado oils give a nice hit of nourishment in this sheerest of colour washes. LOVE.
If you like your matte lipsticks on the very matte side, you’re in luck here. These are really not for me (gloss lover and proud!) but they give a decent (not super saturated) coverage in easily wearable shades. If you like a bright lip, vibrant pink Eva is your gal – made for a sun-warmed tone and holidays. They’re £20 each.
The finish on them wasn’t perfect when I opened them up (tiny bit of excess at tip of the bullet) but actually I found that quite charming – small brands don’t always have the finesse of bigger, plant processed products and it was a reminder that Pinch is presently a small, gutsy player in a huge market. I was pleased to discover, speaking of process, that the production method for Pinch is water conscious and that their manufacturing is moving to NYC in the not too distant future where water wealth is higher. A lot of make up is made in countries such as China who, on a global scale, have far less water than countries such as the USA.
