Givenchy Disturbia Mascara | British Beauty Blogger

[productsample/affiliatelink] The recent trend for coloured mascaras seems to have come from nowhere – I was surprised by Chanel and now I’m surprised by Givenchy – in a good way, of course!

Givenchy Disturbia Mascara

It’s a good looking mascara, right? The studded packaging reflects the theme of Givenchy beauty packaging instigated by Riccardo Tisci when he was creative director. There’s a new creative director for the brand, Clare Waight Keller, who has been in place since 2017. She designed Megan’s wedding dress which is why, unless you’re an avid Givenchy couture customer already, her name might very well ring some bells. However, Clare’s aesthetic is very different to Ricardo’s studs-on-everything approach, so who knows, we might yet see another make up redesign from this brand. Nicolas Degennes in the Artistic Director for Make-Up and Colour and unfailingly manages to bring something new to each collection.

Givenchy Disturbia Mascara

There are currently two shades, Red Disturbia and Black Disturbia… full title is Volume Disturbia just so you realise there is some weight to the length. Sure enough, it does a very decent job in delivering both to a high degree while maintaining a soft lash look. Unlike a lot of coloured mascaras, Red Disturbia doesn’t crisp up on the lashes. I was impressed at the curve it gives and the hold of the curve too, which is great if your lashes like to stick out straight – it gave my lashes an open eye look that held impressively. So, there’s nothing not to like here – the red, incidentally, deepens in colour as it dries so you start with more or less pillar box lashes that settle to a distinct burgundy that doesn’t have too much black at the back of it. It’s £23.50 HERE, non affiliate HERE.

I’m on less solid ground with the new Phenomen’Eyes liners although I love the colours. I’m just incompetent at applying! There are six shades in a glitter finish as well as a vinyl finish black and under the Disturbia banner there is a black calligraphy style liner in a red pen holder. If you’re good at applying, these are going to be an absolute joy with shades from turquoise and pink to gold and copper.

Phenomen’Eyes Liner

They’re all £26 each although it’s a mystery why a liner is more expensive than a mascara. I don’t know if it’s just me but in the pecking order of beauty things, I expect it to be the other way around! These launch next month, by the way.

Debenhams has the exclusive on the mascara at the moment – while I was looking about the Debenhams site I noticed they have 30% several Givenchy make up products (taking a lipstick down from £31 to £23) on sale HERE.
