Finally, A Tool That Boost Collagen Production and Works on Acne Scars!

I love learning beauty tips/tricks from Instagram beauties or celebrities. But when beauty experts post about their favorite products, I definitely pay attention. I came across a post on Instagram from Angela who was sharing one of her beauty secrets for collagen production. Angela is a well known aesthetician. She was using a small tool and running it across her face similar to a using a facial roller. I was very intrigued and decided to learn more about her product.

A derma roller contains small needles that create small injuries on the skin. Those small injuries on the skin are what actually makes this product work. A derma roller looks similar to a face roller, except it has tiny needles that lightly puncture the skin as you use it. These needles create small wonds on the skin, this forces the skin to heal and thus producing collagen and elastin in the skin. As your skin heals it will appear brighter and more youthful since fresh ‘new’ skin is showing through.

I’m a huge fan of Facial rollers, specially ice rollers which are some of my favorite tools to use on my face for anti aging and skin tightening. When I learned a derma roller can boost collagen production and elastin I was even more excited about this tool. As we age our bodies collagen production slows down so finding ways to get some of that loss collagen or push the skin to want to make more collagen is ideal.

A study found that: “Histological examination of the skin treated with 4 microneedling sessions 1 month apart shows upto 400% increase in collagen and elastin deposition at 6 months “

If you have acne scars this is a great solution for it. It encourages faster turnover of the skin. Your skin will be forced to shed faster and scars will become less visible much faster.

Microneedling can also help your skin care products penetrate faster and deeper, it boost the absorption of the products so you can get more out of your moisturizer with less evaporation.

I think this tool is fantastic and the fact that it can help with dark spots, age spots, acne scars and reducing the appearance of stretch marks is really great.

RealSelf’s website describes microneedling as:

“Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. Results can include improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. Microneedling may also be combined with a topical treatment, like PRP (platelet rich plasma) or another vitamin-rich serum.”
