Dr Hauschka Eye Make-up Remover

[productsample/affiliate] Even with brands I think I know well, I will often do some background research just to make sure that I’m up to date – especially with who owns what because that particular factor changes all the time. So, what I learned about Dr Hauschka today is that it was created by a women, Elisabeth Sigmund, and not Dr Hauschka at all. In fact, when the range was initially introduced it was known as ‘Dr Hauschka Healing Skin Care by Elisabeth Sigmund’. I know.. it’s not catchy! Dr Hauschka himself founded WALA (which still exists and owns the brand) and pioneered a way of preserving natural medicines without using alcohol. So, they both did their thing, but you have Elizabeth, researcher, developer, medical student, Red Cross sister and esthetician to thank for the roots of the brand we know today.

Even if you don’t use a daily specific eye make up remover (I don’t), I really think it’s worth having one in the cupboard to do a thorough lash cleanse weekly at least. I’m the first to raise my hand and say that I can be slap-dash over cleansing sometimes (I’m a fan of the TV cleanse – i.e. a micellar, my new bamboo cotton wool replacement pads which I LOVE .. see HERE .. while watching something on the box) although mostly I pay attention to it. The tell-tale signs of mascara that stayed the night are flaky bits and panda marks the following morning.

This bi-phase formula is super gentle but highly effective at the same time. I really liked it for not leaving my eyes filmy with oil and for making my whole eye area feel fresh and cleansed. Little wonder when the line-up includes extracts of eyebright (euphrasia) and fennel in a rose water base. Oils are sesame and sunflower so you get some lash conditioning to boot. It’s £20 well spent (at John Lewis) in my view You can find it HERE, non affiliate HERE.
