This year, Bobbi Brown has partnered with Lulu Guinness for the charity, Smart Works. If you’ve got birthdays coming up and you’re scratching for ideas, this is such a great gift, featuring Smoky Eye Mascara and an Art Stick in pinky-nude shade, Bare. Of course, you get the Lulu Guinness make-up bag with a clear heart shape on the front and the gorgeous red lip zip fob.
The very best thing is that the FULL RRP (less VAT) goes straight to Smart Works, a charity that the brand has worked with over several years. Smart Works is a really well thought-out charity that provides a two hour dressing and coaching session for unemployed women who have an interview ahead of them. Getting back into work, or into work for the first time, is daunting – especially if you’re budget restricted and yet need to look the ticket at interview. And, let’s face it, we all feel better when we know we look good. Smart Works stylists not only supply an interview outfit (from winter coat to a pair of tights – whatever is needed and appropriate) but also a coaching session with an experienced HR professional or senior manager to help secure the role.
What we might forget is that when your confidence is low, you don’t focus so much on your strengths because your self-worth is gone. The Smart Works coaches focus on qualities and strengths so that at interview, they’re foremost. Once a role is secured, back you go for a capsule wardrobe to start you off til that first pay check rolls through. I mean, it’s great… and completely free. Women are encouraged to return to Smart Works, once they’re in employment, to join the network to motivate and help others and keep the whole thing going.
