Roger & Gallet Shower Gels

Roger & Gallet Shower Gels

[productsample/affiliates] I know not everything has look loud and splashy, but these new shower gels from Roger & Gallet are just a little bit too insipid looking for me.  They’re not saying ‘grab me’ off the shelves. However, as accompaniments to the Extrait de Cologne, it’s a way to layer your favourite fragrance or experience it in another way, albeit a softer and gentler way. Thè Fantaisie, above, is a blend of black tea notes with cardamom and lemon – you can pick out the tea and citrus quite well if those are notes you like, but I never did find a single note of cardamom.

Magnolia Folie has a touch of jasmine which I like and which rounds this off into an unobtrusive, creamy floral. It would be hard to dislike it if you like florals but it won’t blow your socks off. Understated might be the kindest way to describe it! I like the gel oil formula which, without being skin softening exactly, is rather nice to apply and I didn’t find it drying. I think these are really for anyone who already likes the R&G offerings – they’re very on-brand for them in that there is a cologne element at the back of each one, but I can’t bring myself to gush about them. Give me a Roger & Gallet soap, on the other hand, and that’s a whole new story – I love them! Other fragrance combinations available are: Nerolie Facetie, Rose Mignonnerie and Tubereuse Hedonie. They’re £9.50 each – I can’t see that they’ve gone live anywhere on-line just yet but have noticed that the older fragrances – Gingembre, Rose and Thè Vert  – are all on offer for £8 each HERE.
