L’Occitane Lip Collection | British Beauty Blogger

[productsamples] It’s almost a decade since L’Occitane did away with their make-up line – you might remember the beautiful Peony collection with flower embossed powder blush and pretty lipsticks. You could go back a decade more to a fuller, non-limited make up selection that was discontinued. So, they’re back – sort of – with a lip line that includes colour and care.

L’Occitane Lip Collection

The main parts are Lip Scrub, Lip Balm and Colour. I love the way they’ve been really free with this – the scrub is unashamedly jammy (think Bonne Maman conserves), the colours luxuriously juicy and the balms soft and nourishing.

There’s a huge temptation, because of the deliciously fruity scents, to lick your lips and expect the flavour to match the smell. Because the exfoliation comes from fine sugar grains, you’ll definitely get a sweet hit with fruity notes, but I wouldn’t describe it as edible as such. There’s a kind of soapy back-draft if you are too enthusiastic about lip licking and don’t keep your mouth shut!

There are three ‘flavours’ with each formula using different infusions, but the same thread runs through them – Vitamin E, pomegranate oil, carrot extracts and pomelo. Marmalade Kiss (above) uses mandarin extract, Raspberry Crush uses raspberry and Fabulous Fig uses, yes, you guessed it, fig. There’s a very nice moment when you first apply when the smell and sweetness merge – use your finger to rub the sugar around (it’s a loose consistency) and then rinse off with warm water when you’re done. They’re £14 each.

The Fruity Lipsticks (£18) are my favourite items from the collection – as melty and soft as they come. The colour pay off is like a light balm – not full but not shy either on saturation.

They give a glorious sheen with a lightly fruity scent – add the reassuringly weighty yellow casings and you have summer in a lipstick.

L’Occitane Lip Collection

From bottom to top: Provence Sunset, Flamingo Kiss and the Fruity Lip Perfector that has a pH effect on your lips. Although it’s packaged the same as the balm sticks, it’s a plumping formula (It’s £20).

L’Occitane Lip Collection

Finally, the Balms (£20). These have a light tint but are less sheeny than the Fruity Lipsticks. They’re a smidge of colour in a creamy, emollient formula (Miss Grenadine is my favourite in a wash of peachy-orange) and packed with oils that protect and comfort.

L’Occitane Lip Collection

There are four options: Carrot Fizz, Miss Grenadine, Pink Calisson and Gimme Mauve. The collection launches in May so this is a bit of a sneaky peek!
