Huda Beauty New Nude Palette

Huda Beauty New Nude Palette

I’ve got to say it – this is one good looking palette; a really exciting take on a nude palette. However, some of the textures are difficult to work with so we couldn’t say it’s entry level.

The matte shades are all great – plenty of pigment, not dusty and some shades that aren’t covered in palettes I already have. It’s both warm and cool, interestingly. Where I fell into difficulty was with the glitters – Excite and Infatuated. They’re really just to add a sparkle wash across the lids but I found them very droppy when I applied. I had red glitter everywhere. So, what I’d suggest is that you do your eyes before your base so that you can gently brush pieces of glitter away. Or you can use tissues under your eyes as you apply. The duo-chromes are creamy in nature and don’t like to be applied with a sponge applicator that I use for swatches. On the lid, with a brush, you need to build them up to get a good level of reflection and shade shift. One last thing before I show you the swatches, the bottom corner (cream shade) is actually a creamy concealer. That took me by surprise, I have to say, as I blundered in with the applicator! However, it’s quite a handy thing to have as long as the powders don’t cross-contaminate.

So, from bottom to top, the first row: Bare, Crave, Play, Fantasy (which I’ve over applied to give you the best colour view), Love Bite and Spanked.

The second row: Lace, Daydream, Tickle, Excite, Infatuation and Kinky.

Things warm up in the bottom row: Concealed, Secret, Tease, Raw, Charmed and Teddy.

If you apply the glitters with your finger tip – and actually, I’d recommend finger tip application for the duo-chrome colours too (they’re very, very soft) as they burnish up beautifully the more you stroke them onto the lid. Although this palette looks quite pared back, once you start applying the glowy shades, it really livens everything up. If you like nudes and you like glam, it’s worth considering because it’s so versatile. It’s pricey at £56 HERE.
