Dior Glow To The Max!

Dior Glow To The Max!

If anything is going to cheer up your week, it’s these cosmetic candies from Dior. Lip Glows are part colour and part balm and do a very decent job of both although the colour comes more from a pH reaction so it’s not particularly controllable. They’re kind of weekend make up products – fairly unobtrusive and the sort of thing you’d swipe and go so you’re not wearing nothing, but neither are you down the supermarket aisle looking ready to party.

The swirls that you see are a mix of – shimmer is too strong a word I think – glints and coloured balm so when you apply to your lips you have a lightly iridescence-hit, low key colour sheen which will intensify to a certain point with the pH reaction. They have a softly fruity smell and don’t taste of anything. In terms of hydration, mango butter is the key ingredient and keeps lips soft with a protective coating that lasts for ages.

In the swatch above (the ‘stripes’ don’t stay – once you swipe over your lips and mwah it all becomes one): Coral, Pink, Holo Purple and Rosewood. pH products tend to all veer pink, so expect that. They’re £28 HERE.

Dior Lip Maximizer

Next up, these beauties! New shades are here for Lip Maximizer to give a combination of sheer colour and plumping. Not all plumpers plump and those that do give a very temporary effect. They’re very minty in taste and smell but certainly do give a more pillowy look to lips that seems to last longer than most. There is apparently more glossiness to these than previous versions (another indicator that gloss is coming back) and with hyaluronic acid added, they’re more protective and hydrating than most cosmetic glosses.

If used daily, Dior claims 86% more smoothness after a month – that sounds like a challenge and all the reason you need to slip one into the basket. I like the milkiness of Pink but I’m also tempted by iridescent Holo Purple. When I Instagrammed these at the weekend, someone asked if you can wear them over a lipstick, which you can, but you would reduce the wear time of that lipstick and also miss out on the direct hit of hyaluronic.

As you can see in the swatch, they’re barely there shades – a nuance in gloss which is why I like them so much, despite the mint, but the one with the most pigment is Rosewood. They do a great job of immediately smoothing so if you have creased lips, like me, they do give a lovely softening glaze. Above: Pink, Rosewood, Holo Purple and Coral. They’re £28 HERE.
