Clarins Summer Make Up 2019

[productsamples] Next up on the beauty calendar – all things summer. This collection isn’t launching til a respectable 5th May but if it doesn’t get your hot beauty juices flowing, I don’t know what will.

Clarins Summer Make Up 2019

At first I thought Clarins Summer Make Up 2019 was a designer collaboration, but no – it doesn’t seem to be ascribed to anyone other than the design team at Clarins. Good job, design team! It’s a small collection (excludes sun care which I am sure will come later) comprising 6 products only… continuing a theme from brands of making smaller seasonal ranges.

Clarins Summer Make Up 2019

First up, the three vibrant Water Lip Stains, this time with a dot of sparkle in each one. They’re made of 77% water (not just any old water by the way – organic raspberry water forms a part) which means that when they’re on the lip they dry to a light stain and feel cooling. If you’ve got very dry lips, these aren’t for you – in fact, no water stains are because the evaporation process will make things worse. I tend to use a balm over a stain so that it doesn’t happen. The colours are the originals that Clarins first brought to market – but with added sparkle for a 2019 twinkle.

Shades from right to left are : Sparkling Red Water, Sparkling Rose Water and Sparkling Violet Water.

This is Sunset Glow, the shimmery version of the two bronzing powders – you get a patch of warmth with the peachy shade and a contrasting highlight with the paler patch.

The matte version is slightly deeper in tone and the base bronzer has no shimmer – it’s the more versatile of the two because you can pick up shimmer from the contrasts if you wish and do a little contouring. It’s shown with the Limited Edition Waterproof Eye Pencil in Blue Lily.

As you can see, it’s a vibrant picture – on the lip, the waters are really just a tint but it’s definitely noticeable (on me, the red shade is the absolute winner) with the shimmer being the guest at the party rather than the main event. I say this while testing on a sun-less day – it could well be that when the sun hits your lips you light up like a Christmas tree, but I don’t think so – it seems well dispersed and subtle. They’re £19 each, the bronzers are £32 and the eye pencil is £18.
