7 Ways to Engage Patients on Instagram

Instagram has seen steady growth since it launched, and with a billion monthly active users posting 95 million pictures and videos daily, it shows no signs of slowing down. The visual app stands out for offering the highest engagement rates of any social network. Patients are particularly active on Instagram, but life sciences companies are only starting to see its value. According to a recent report by Klick Health, while 352 pharma brands have a presence on Facebook, only 41 are on Instagram.

If you want to reach patients on Instagram, start with the basics. Make sure you post regularly and only post high-quality, thoughtful content. Here are 7 ways to engage patients on Instagram.


1. Invite them to follow you.

Especially if you are new to Instagram, be sure to invite your current followers on other social platforms like Facebook to follow you there. Link to your Instagram profile in emails and on your websites.

2. Ask trusted patient influencers for help.

Partnering with trusted patient leaders is a great way to reach more patients.
